--ANNOUNCEMENT--
UPCOMING PUBLICATION OF REVISED EDITION OF
THE HANDBOOK OF ADMINISTRATIVE SUPERVISION
We expect the revised edition of our original Handbook of Administrative Supervision to be in print by the end of this calendar year. The edition will be called The New Handbook of Administrative Supervision in Counseling, and has been written by Patricia Henderson, a long-time administrative supervisor herself. It will be published by Routledge/Taylor & Francis, and will be available for purchase via the ACA Publications Catalog or directly from Routledge.
We are very excited about this project. The original edition has been a best-seller for years, and has received a solid updating under ACES auspices. The advertising material below offers information on the book's structure and content. Pricing and availability will be announced on our website as soon as we know.
The New Handbook of Administrative Supervision in Counseling
Patricia Henderson
Successful administrative supervisors establish work environments that provide excellent, culturally responsive services to clients and also contribute to the accomplishment of their agencies' mission and operations. They manage effective and efficient service delivery systems and lead staff members in maintaining the highest levels of competence and commitment. To meet these goals, administrative supervisors must develop and continue to update their knowledge base and skillsand this book provides the tools to do so.
Intended for new, aspiring, or practicing administrative supervisors in counseling, The New Handbook of Administrative Supervision in Counseling describes 18 responsibilities of supervisors of professional counselors in public and private mental health agencies, private practice, and schools. Extensively updated from the highly successful first edition, this edition synthesizes current practice, theory, and research from counseling and other relevant disciplines to define and explore this underdeveloped dimension of professional counseling. It delineates the skills administrative supervisors need, the issues they face, and provides examples of useful strategies for working with supervisees.
The Handbook is based on Dr. Henderson's more than 35 years of experience as a clinical and administrative supervisor of counselors and 20 years as a trainer and supervisor of new and practicing administrative supervisors. Sponsored by the Association for Counselor Education and Supervision (ACES).
