We are making available to ACES members a full online copy of thebook, Developing and Maintaining Counselor Education Laboratories(2nd ed., 2010). Edited by Keith Mobley and Jane Myers, it revisesand updates the 1994 publication that has served so well over the yearsto guide planning for and operating on-campus counseling laboratory facilities.
The publication provides 25 separately authored chapters, offering solidthought as well as viewpoints for discussion. Included are topics suchas physical planning and funding, staffing and directorship, ethicaland legal issues, research opportunities, supervision, scheduling andemergency procedures, and community involvement. While the mainfocus of the book is toward the on-campus laboratory, it recognizes anddiscusses alternative arrangements such as distance learning and on-site community-based practicum and internship. A unique feature is theinclusion of complete laboratory handbooks and brochures from severalcounseling programs, plus photos of their physical facilities.
